My Monday morning begins with a stop at McDonald’s for an egg white delight and large hot chocolate with non fat milk, then heading west on I-70 to work. I turn left off the highway onto Lau Parkway and a big smile comes across my face, as I see our building sign reading “VAP Packaging Management”.
Why do I smile everyday when I turn onto Lau Parkway in Englewood and see our building? Why am I so excited to tackle the day with a group of 40 people from all walks of life that I call my family? Why am I going to be happy to see them and spend most of my day with them? Why will I go home and later that night start working on more things that add benefit to our Team? In retrospect WHY DO I CARE?
I asked myself these questions recently and it came down to this for me: our PURPOSE/the WHY of what we are doing of “Improving Lives through Packaging Management” that we strive towards cohesively as a team everyday. It is the engaged collaborative Team filled with individuals of great character all striving together for the same purpose and all holding ourselves accountable to living up to The VAP Way! It is the way we live up to our VAP Customer Service Standards and how we handle our customers with great care and priority. It is the feeling of going in and adding my talent and making a difference that is valued and respected and at the same time respecting and valuing the talents of each individual Team member and together building this company to be GREAT.
So when Monday rolls around again and I jump out of bed ready to tackle the day, I know that I will not be doing it alone. I will spend my day working with a group of great individuals and together striving towards a Purpose that I truly care about.
