Everyone here at VAP Packaging Management has a title which gives a hint to that person’s natural character. It is fun to figure out what someone does at VAP based on their creative title that they have been dubbed. For example, we have a “Mighty Maintenance Man”, “Master Bean Counter”, “Chief Champion of Culture”, and a “Head Coach”. Our customers often comment on our titles and really get a kick out of them.
My VAP title is “The Care Giver” and this is something that holds true in my personal life as well as my work life. The title translates into many areas of my work; most important is care of our customers which I enjoy very much. Giving excellent customer care is what VAP is all about and my title reflects my personality. It is my nature as “The Care Giver” to outwardly show my care and compassion to everyone I meet as well as all my coworkers. I began something several years ago which aligns with my “Care Giver” title. I started giving a bag of goodies to my coworkers on their birthday to let them know how valued they are as employees and as a person. I received acknowledgment one day that this act of kindness truly meant a lot to one of my coworkers. It was a humbling moment when I was told by an employee after they received their gift that I was the only one that will recognize their birthday and they were very appreciative that I took the time to honor them. Needless to say, we both got teary –eyed and gave each other a big hug. Everyone needs to know that someone is thinking and caring about them. It was a great life lesson.
My hope is that I will leave a seed in someone else to continue to give respect and compassion which is so important in this day and age. VAP has been the perfect home for me to express my “caring nature” and I love what we stand for as a company. It is important that we all treat each other with respect and maintain a positive and caring culture. Our titles are as much about who we are as what we do, if not more so.
