A day in the life of Steve, the Assembly Lead consists of many tasks. When he arrives at the start time he schedules all the daily tasks to complete all the on-time production. He has a team of 6-10 Team Members on site at VAP plus 2-3 off-site Team Members to coordinate. Once everyone has started their “jobs” he is off to the morning meeting to discuss a number of topics ranging from critical jobs to Team needs to staffing issues. After the meeting, Steve is off to the races. He is problem solving, redirecting work flow, running the “foam machine” and being a Champion of Culture while being a Leader in our organization.
Some of Steve’s daily duties include coordinating with the Warehouse Team to ensure the Assembly Team is not creating more than our space allows. On the other side, he ensures his Team has what they need from Manufacturing, so they can produce what is needed all while problem solving and readjusting as he goes. He does all the forklift material management for Assembly and monitors efficiency, making the appropriate workflow decisions on the spot.
While he is coordinating on-site duties here VAP he is also coordinating off-site duties at one of our customer’s locations. He makes sure they are staffed according to the work load and that there is enough product to keep his team busy and the customer’s lines running. He is in constant communication with the customer and his Team and is willing to drop everything to go there should the need arise.
We appreciate Steve for all his hard work and willingness to do what is needed to get the job done!
Not surprised, Steve has always had great leadership ability and demonstrated that very proficiently in combat under direct enemy engagement. He is a great man.
